I am excited about this.

There are a few more pices to the puzzle coming up next week. We picked up 8 air pots for coffee, a 5 foot sandwich cooler, a two door stainless under counter cooler, and what is pictured below, which is a cooler for the pies and desserts. I think it is really cool. The picture makes it look orange, but it is a metallic bronze color. Perfect.

Rivertown Windows.

I had a fun night with the local first people. I was contracted to make some food for them and I packed up the van and went out to serve two soups and sandwiches. It was a good event and the Pampered Chef lady gave me some snacks. I only with the the Bear Manor Crew could have been there. I would have drizzeld hot soup all over the Barry VanDyke Fella.

$10 will get you $12 Electric Cheetah Money, Now Available.

Hey there Grand Rapids! We are really streching it to make this project work, financially, and we thought that the best thing to do in this case would be to straight up copy what the Meanwhile Bar did and sell gift certificates, or Electric Cheetah Money. We now have the currency available. Call Cory 616-617-6452 and I will deliver it wherever I need to, whenever I need to. I am working on getting credit card processing so you can buy it online on my website and then I will mail it to you, but until then I will just have to do it the old fashioned way. I like that term, "Old Fashioned". Anyway give me a call and I will get your bucks to you. $10 will get you $12. We are planning on opening the first week of June. HELP US OUT! Support local business, please?

Better Check your pants.

This past Friday, we signed the lease. Below are pictures of the Bear Manor Properties crew, my brother Todd, and myself signing our lives away. We are in DEEEP now. I could not have asked for a better property management property company to work with. I know that none of this would have been possible if it were not for the generosity and willingness to help on the part of Barry, Heather, and Jackson VanDyke. I thank them for their help and I know it will be a great partnership.

1015 Wealthy St.

This is what the building is supposed to look like when it is all done. It will have two 1000 sq. ft apartments on the top second floor and a 2000 sq. ft Electric Cheetah on the lower level. It is a LEED Certified Green Building designed by DTS Winkleman here in Grand Rapids. The environmentally nice theme continue inside the restaurant as I intend to keep things green up in there as well.

An Electric Cheetah to Remember...

Here it is, the first post to this blog. Welcome. It has been a process to get us to this point. It started on the day that my brother, and partner, Todd DeMint encouraged me to look for a property that would be suitable for a restaurant. Of course being a longtime resident of the Heritage Hill/East Hills area, specifically 933 Wealthy St. I was enclined to CHOOSE a spot in the neighboorhood. I had watched Wealthy St. grow and change over the last decade and I thought that now was the time to make a move.

Jana and I had just got back from a scooter trip, where we drove a scooter from Minneapolis to Chicago, and I hopped on the new scooter that we bought and rode around writing names and contact numbers down for potential properties. I called Barry from Bear Manor Properties and met with him at 1017 Wealthy St. to have a look.

Ironically, after I decided that I wanted the space, after it had sat empty for over a year, another restaurant settled on it before I could. So Barry says to me, he says, Cory, Would you be interested in a Green Building space next door that is twice the money and twice the space and twice what you had planned on for starting a first restaurant? And I said NO! But then I said YES! and here we are. The lease was signed this past Friday after much negotiation and many mechanical hurdles. This blog will keep you updated as to the progress of Building a Cheetah.
